Some advice on the faculty search
Here is the video.
Many people see applying for a faculty position as the culmination of their early academic careers. In many ways, it is, and it’s also the step where chances are usually not really in people’s favor – statistically, it’s the most difficult step to take. But, many people do make it every year. How do you prove you are good enough to do something you haven’t really done before? I felt like my perspective – which isn’t that of a person who ‘made it’ on the first try, but who went through 3 rounds, and 2 postdocs (which some bad advice on the internet suggests one should never do), including interviews in Chemistry, Materials Science, and Physics may be useful. I may also add another video soon on how to make the best out of being a Ph.D student and a postdoc.
