Congratulations Emily Ward for a very successful Ph.D admissions process, and we wish you success during your Ph.D program at Princeton. During her undergraduate time at IU, Emily completed what can only be considered a Ph.D, while winning multiple awards. This includes both a highly technical method development paper she led, which led to the first direct visualization of lone pairs in a solid using Wannier functions, methodology to modify the Hamiltonian to understand bonding in a heteroanionic solid, as well as multiple papers in preparation combining both theory in our group, and synthesis in the Skrabalak group.
